Alinsky Rule 5 Post 23:
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman will receive the highly coveted Man of the Year Award by NARAL Pro-Choice America at the organization’s 2019 Annual Convention in NYC as the group commemorates its 50th Anniversary of promoting abortions.
NARAL’s name originally meant National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws, then the National Abortion Rights Action League, and later the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League.
On February 14-16, 1969, NARAL was established at the “First National Conference on Abortion Laws: Modification or Repeal?” held in Chicago. Its founding was announced on the front page of The New York Times.
In his remarks before the organizations meeting in 2017, Schneiderman said,
“Oppression is oppression — and male supremacists always fear the voices of women. We need to build a movement for true equality and freedom for women a movement against male supremacy in all its forms and manifestations. And we need to build this movement from the ground up focusing on state as well as federal action.”
New York U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a long-time supporter of Scneiderman’s political career, is scheduled to introduce him to the convention to be held at Madison Square Garden.
In February 2018, the popular Attorney General sued the Weinstein Company, accusing it of being complicit in Harvey’s sexual misconduct. In announcing his office’s legal action, Schneiderman said,
“We have never seen anything as despicable as what we’ve seen right here … They knew what was happening. It was flagrant, it was flamboyant. They knew how pervasive it was and not only did they fail to stop it, they enabled it and covered it up.”
In a humorous video on her Fakebook page, alleged comedian Samantha Bee interviews Schneiderman concerning his efforts to confront President Trump’s policies.
